BLUE MOUNTAIN
I grew up on Blue Mountain
Way up in the sky
High atop of Blue Mountain
Is where I learned to cry
I’m out to do the best I can, lord
Determined to find
A better world than Blue Mountain
Somewhere down the line
I set out from Blue Mountain the sheriff on my trail
Felt like all of Blue Mountain
Wanted me to fail
I did my time
My only crime
Was not buying what they sold
They’ll lock you up on Blue Mountain
If you don’t fit their mold
High atop of Blue Mountain
Blue as can be
I refuse to let Blue Mountain
Be the death of me
I’m out to do the best I can, lord
Determined to find
A better world than Blue Mountain somewhere down the
line
I was raised on Blue Mountain
To never come down here
One day I left Blue Mountain
To try to see it clear
Saw a thousand people wailing
Through this veil of tears
Folks that up on Blue Mountain
They told me I should fear
They’re defunding the library
To build the county jail
Making sure the roads don’t lead
To anywhere but there
I’m out to do the best I can
Determined to find
A better world than Blue Mountain somewhere down the
line
I look back on Blue Mountain
& how they caused me pain
I bet the boss of Blue Mountain
Don’t even feel ashamed
So if you’re stuck on Blue Mountain
Don’t forget that you can leave
Just cause they're lost on Blue Mountain
Don’t mean we gotta be
High atop of Blue Mountain
Blue as can be
I refuse to let Blue Mountain
Be the death of me
I grew up on Blue Mountain
Way up in the sky
High atop of Blue Mountain
Is where I learned to cry
I’m out to do the best I can, lord
Determined to find
A better world than Blue Mountain somewhere down the
line
A better world than Blue Mountain somewhere down the
line
