FULL MOON
Caught our reflection in a bad way
Went out walking on the lake
Wondered how much trouble it’d take
’Til we stop saying it's ok
All I wanted was to love you but it’s so hard to stay awake
As we watch it like a full moon from here it only takes away
In our quest for affirmation, in the digital array
Make sure nothing’s really threatened
& everything feels safe
I know all of this means nothing
& probably nothing will remain
But if you wake up & it’s lightning,
Will you hold me anyway?
Out here everyone stays occupied
Until no one can relate
Told opposition is our birthright
So long as we keep it contained
Meanwhile everything is melting, at a devastating pace
I swear we all meant to do something but we got so disengaged
As we fry on entertainment with all the critical acclaim
Modern culture is a vacuum, but are we really entertained?
I know all of this means nothing
& probably nothing will remain
But if you wake up & it’s lightning,
Will you hold me anyway?
Caught our reflection in a bad way
Went out walking on the lake
Wondered how much trouble it’d take
'Til we stop saying it's ok
All I wanted was to love you but it’s so hard to stay awake
As we watch it like a full moon from here it only takes away
